How Your Business Can Attract Gen Zers with Snapchat

As a business leader, you know how important it is to use social media to get new customers. Ever since starting your business, you’ve worked hard on getting your business’s name out, spreading the word on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. You’ve used every resource out there, from smart analytics of data to the best web designers to free business name generators. Like blockchain entrepreneur Brian Magierski, you’re blogging as an expert in the field and being invited to podcasts as a guest to talk about your business.
Lately, you’ve been thinking of getting your company on Snapchat. You’re not exactly sure how it works, but you know you need it. The fact is, Gen Zers live on Snapchat. When they aren’t scrolling through Instagram, this is the app they choose to use, watching their friends’ lives in snaps and video. So if you want to attract them, you need to understand how to use Snapchat for business. And here’s how.
1 Get connected
Getting connected on Snapchat is way more challenging than other social media platforms. When it comes to Facebook and Instagram, all you need to do is simply use the search feature. For example, if you’re a hairdresser, you can look up ‘hairdressers’ and ‘style influencers’ to quickly connect with your community and potential consumers. The Snapchat interface, on the other hand, doesn’t even have a search feature, because it was originally designed for individuals to get in touch with each other.
But Gen Zers love Snapchat, and it’s one of the best ways for you to reach them. Millennials also use the app, which is probably why Snapchat has 187 million daily users. But not to worry! If you aren’t sure where to start, Think Business provides advice on finding Snapchat usernames. They explain that it’s all about “performing a Google search to see if an individual brand is using it. Another way to track down usernames is by searching for the keywords ‘follow on Snapchat’ on Facebook or Twitter as most brands will, at some point, have asked their followers to connect with them there. Snapcodes can also be a useful source for finding related users to follow.”
2 Work with influencers
When it comes to social media in general, Gen Zers are changing things. They’re ad-averse, thoroughly read reviews of products and services they’re interested in, and want transparency. Additionally, according to mediakix, Gen Zers want “authenticity and realistic narrative in advertisements. This is evidenced by Generation Z’s preference for influencer marketing. 63 percent of Generation Z would prefer to see social media influencers in advertisements where only 37 percent of Generation Z would prefer celebrities.”
Just like above, you need to connect with influencers by first finding them with Google, Facebook, and Twitter–and finding their Snapchat link on their pages. Once you’ve connected with them, you can send a message asking if they’re interested in collaborating with you. And since Snapchat is one-tenth as saturated as Facebook, that means your message is more likely to come through, giving you an advantage over competitors who haven’t yet mastered Snapchat. If you offer something in return for them working with you, whether it’s a shoutout to their brand or some free swag, they’re likely to work with you.

3 Combine Snapchat with your social media accounts
Since you’ve always advertised your social media accounts on your website, it makes sense to advertise your new Snapchat social media account, too. But you want to do this not only on your main site but on all your social media accounts, too. According to Tech Advisory, you simply have to “share a custom URL on other social media platforms that allow other users to quickly add you as their Snapchat connections. To do so, replace “yourusername” in the following URL: https://www.snapchat.com/add/yourusername.” Then, you’ll also want to promote your new Snapchat account anytime you’re blogging, and share the news on Facebook and Instagram, too.
In 2017, daily Snapchat users opened the app 18 times daily. So once you’ve hooked your following, they’ll be checking your account to see if you’ve got new snaps or videos.
Once you’ve laid this groundwork, you’re ready to start sending snaps and interacting on the daily with your Gen Z followers. The best part? Eventually, more people will get onto Snapchat, and Gen Zers will get older, which means that your customer base is going to grow fast and guarantee your business success!
