3 Tips For Getting Visitors To Complete Purchases Through Your Website

December 17, 2020Online Standard

For ecommerce businesses, the most important part of your business is getting visitors to convert on your website. Without this, there’s no way that your business will survive. But despite how important this aspect is, many businesses fail to know what they should be doing to ensure that anyone who is serious about making a purchase from their website actually completes that purchase.

If this is something that your ecommerce business has been struggling with, here are three tips for getting visitors to complete purchases through your website.

Write Stronger Copy

Although you might think that the text and content that you write for your website is primarily for SEO purposes, another goal of the content on your website should be to convince your visitors to make a purchase from you, especially as they get closer and closer to the checkout process.

Knowing this, you may need to spend more time, money, and attention on the copy that you include on or near your calls to action. According to NeilPatel.com, the right copy can not only help your visitors to make the decision to purchase from you, but it can also give them the information they need to make this decision along with the desire to create a consumer relationship with your business. With all of this dependent on the copy you have included on your website, it’s worth it to make sure that what you’ve written is top-notch quality.

Simplify Your Design

For many businesses, in their excitement to make a sale through their website, they actually end up making the process much more complicated than it actually needs to be by including too many bells and whistles on the design side.

Rather than going this route, Jak Frisby, a contributor to HubSpot.com, advises that you try to really strip down your design and simplify your pages that are meant to funnel your visitors through to the checkout process. If you’re able to effectively do this, there won’t be anything left on the page to distract your visitors from completing their purchase.

Improve The Checkout Process

One reason you might be having people bounce before finishing a purchase with you could be because the checkout process you currently have doesn’t encourage people to go entirely through checking out. This can happen for a number of reasons, but the solution is always the same: improve and simplify the checkout process.

To do this, Neil Patel of CrazyEgg.com recommends doing things like allowing people to check out as guests, offering more payment options, only having two pages in the checkout process, and using a progress bar so customers can see how far they’ve made it through the checkout process. All of these things can encourage people not to abandon their carts.

If you’re wanting to convert more people on your ecommerce website, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you do this.
